Oh My CrAZy!!

It's been 1 month to the day that I haven't blogged. I can't tell my family how sorry I am for not keeping you updated!! I've had a few people ask why I haven't written, and I swear on my venti iced coffee that it's been a crazy month with visitors and no internet at the house. The most frustrating thing here by far is the internet issue, Darin and I have had 5 different people from the same cable company come out and "fix" our internet only to show up and say "oh we don't do that, you'll have to call so and so in engineering". Ugh...ok? So currently it's been about 3 weeks and we STILL have no internet. I've had so many visitors I haven't worked in 3 weeks either or I would of blogged at work. Enough with my excuses (even though they are valid 100%). Since all of this has happened, it's forced me to come to Starbucks on Cable Beach, get a venti iced coffee and relax on this full sized couch upstairs all alone to blog and surf (the web duh). I have about 5 hours to kill before I walk home 4 blocks to make dinner before Darin gets home.

Soooooooo, as you all know my parents left (a month ago lol) and a week later my sister Laura, bestest friend of 17 yrs Teya, my other sister Shelby and her bff Kittah came to visit for a week. Let me paint a little picture; Teya and I are 27 and married but Teya also has a 3 yr old. Laura is 22, done with school, acts like an adult most of the time, but she lets loose if other people are. Shelby and Kittah are 18 and in their first year in college, remember that first college spring break?? Yea....I tried my best to be young and hip like an 18 yr old. It was certainly a diverse group, with party girls who wanted to look for boys and go to Senor Frogs all day, then some who wanted to relax and shop a little, walk around, see some sites. We only had one huge blow out night which I won't talk about but other than that, we all did pretty good getting along and doing things each of us wanted to do. Teya stayed in one night and the "youngins" wanted to go out, so I drove them out to a club called Waterloo where I basically sat on a cement wall with my beer as the girls ran around the place and would check in frequently. I met a nice group of "older" guys who said they were on a bachelor trip but from my point of view it didn't look like much of a bachelor party. I ended up having a great time, much better than how I thought the night would turn out. We went to Senor Frogs during the days, shopped in the straw market, went to the beach, had an Atlantis water park day which was fabulous!! I can't get over that place, i'd go everyday if I could. The girls left Sunday but Laura and Teya surprised me and stayed till Monday. On Sunday Darin came back from a bachelor party in Miami. Alan came back with him and Jenny flew from Orlando. We had a girls day after picking up Jenny, saw the beach and ate at Compass Point for dinner before picking the boys up later that night. Laura and Teya left the next morning and then it was the "tourist routine" all over again with a new group of "tourists" lol. I think I can only do that routine twice in a row, any more than that and i'd be tired of it, but i'm ready for it when anyone comes, it's the only time I get out and do stuff on the island. Alan and Jenny were a fun couple, of course Darin was excited to finally have a boy here. This visit was fun, but no more relaxing than the round of girls the week before. We did the Senor Frogs for dinner and partying one night, had an Atlantis water park day which Jenny had never been so that was fun! We did the shopping and straw market stuff too, also going by the fish fry for dinner one night at 11pm, it was the only thing opened. I didn't know this but they give away condoms for free there if you ask for them. There was this box on a shelf and it said latex on it, and I was like no way....there's something else in there and it's not what the box said. I asked the bartender what was in that box, so he pulls it down and takes out condoms and passes them out to us L O L....no where i've seen in the states that does that at ANY bar. See inserted picture :) We had a great time with them here and Thursday we all flew home together for Darin's best friends wedding that weekend. I always feel so bad for Darin when people are here, he doesn't get to do anything during the day and doesn't get home till 7pm so he does his best to hang out and go to work the next day. After 3 weeks of that, including a bachelor party, i'm sure he's pretty wiped out. As am I. It definitely feels good to be home back to our "normal" routine. It's been a pretty un-relaxing few weeks but totally worth every minute! I went to work the last 2 days to get caught up on everything i've missed and today I just stayed home. I don't tell Darin enough how much I love my life and that i'm happy to live on an island, work if I want to any hours any days, and if I don't feel like it, there's no obligation for me to, I love sleeping in, walking to Starbucks, and having the freedom to travel and visit with friends and family when they come visit. Living the retired life on an island is simply the best place to be retired lol....when I have kids, then I guess i'll come out of retirement then, but until that day, here's to my venti iced coffee and free internet!!! xoxo
