CoNGa TipSy!!

Last weekend for V-day Darin and I went to Treasure Cay and stayed at the Britt's house there. We had a few friends coming over from Orlando, staying at their house down the street from us. I have never been to Abaco, but i've seen picture after picture on everyone's facebooks and I've been dying to go there! Darin basically grew up in Abaco with the Britt family. We had a chance to go and it's so cheap to fly there from here, so I asked mama Britt if we could use their house for the weekend. The Britt family are some of the nicest people I know, so of course they said "of course!!!" We were SO excited to go to Treasure, I could hardly wait. We left Friday morning at like 6am, had to be up at 4:30am.....UGH GROSS!! We get there at 7:30am and look for "Gordon" he has the key to the house and a taxi to pick us up in. We get a ride with Gordon and Darin remembers him from almost 9 years ago!! I already love this place because everyone knows everyone, you can't feel more welcome than that! Getting to the house was amazing, perfect little house on the water with a great back patio! I've heard one of the best things about this place was that everyone has golf carts, so after getting settled Darin and I called Gordon for a golf cart, and within 30mins someone showed up with our golf cart! We drove around a little while we waited for our friends to fly in, saw the little town, got some groceries and drove to the point of the island which is a gorgeous sight! It was nice hearing Darin tell all his little stories as we drove past places, all those memories seem really special to him. Mid-day, we drove and found our friends already having a good time on the back porch. They were staying at our friend Libby's place which is right on the mouth of the ocean maybe 3 houses in on the inter coastal and that's where we hung out most of the time. We went out on the boat, at lunch on another island, had a hot tub party, did a little lobstering, slept in another boat at the Marsh Harbor Marina, met a few people down there, went to Nippers on Sunday, had lasagna dinner together, and Monday everyone left. I don't want to go into detail about the whole weekend but in short, that's pretty much what we did. We had a GREAT time, all I can think about is going back!!

We met Steve and Chelsea there. They live in Marsh Harbor and live on a boat in the marina! What a life, living on a boat on a beautiful island! I've always wondered who they were in pictures, but had no idea they lived there! Now that we've met a cool couple only a few islands away we plan on visiting Marsh Harbor more often to visit them! I think it's one of my new fav. places.

You know your in Treasure Cay having a great time with friends when......the place has "treasure" in it's name, it's a golf cart community, white beaches, teal waters, riding on the boat and your hair goes crazy, you have no brush, drawing on a styrofoam cup with colored markers to make your name look cool, when a dog does the conga, and her name is Tipsy, loud music, great sunshine in your face, dolphins playing right out back, the most comfy couch to pass out on (thanks Libby), backer's bay punch, tervis tumblers, new t-shirts, nipper's tractor, a pile of jello shots by Chel for Jon's birthday, falling off a stripper pole, falling in the water from the dock while attempting to step on to the boat, bean bag chairs for the boat ride, holding frozen corn on your head, ibuprofen, the sound of the golf cart pulling into the Dobson's (Libby's) driveway on the little pebbles, wearing rasta hats, non stop laughter, paparazzi, flipping, everywhere is an amazing view, getting "nipped" for the first time, laying in a hammock, getting sun-kissed and knowing you want to come back before you even leave. Did I leave something out?

CulTuRE sHOcK!

posted on Nassau Pawn's facebook by a local: Y Do Ppl Say Dey Killin 4 DIS Person But If Sum1 Play Wit Dem Dey Aint Killin 4 deySelf I Dnt Get It.

Will my facebook posts eventually look like this because if so, I gotta get outta here! I'm just saying...
I mean really? WHAT THE HECK does that say?! Anyways, just thought i'd share a little culture with you.

As you already know from previous posts, my parents came to visit and besides the Jamaica resort they NEVER left, they've never really experienced anything other than a normal American, convenient, taxed life. I was excited to have my parents come because of the fact of them not experiencing anything out of their ordinary lives. Visiting me I thought would be a "culture shock", and I was happy to be their tour guide! Since I moved to the Bahamas, the rest of my family FINALLY got their passports, so this was the first trip documented by a stamp in their passports. My mom got an extra stamp because she was pulled aside and searched, great first "culture shock" experience!

My parents finally made it through customs after an hour. My mom was searched, her bag was searched, they tried to make her pay a fee for bringing me a vacuum, but she's not dumb and told them their own rule about being able to bring $100 duty free, then they were like "oh yea, you're right". She told them!!!! We had a late start when they got here so we hung out at the house until Darin got off of work and came home. We went out to Compass Point, one of our favorite places here, it's on the water and at night it gets a little cool out, so here we are sitting with long sleeves and a little sweater on in the Bahamas, while eating pizza out on the patio. People probably thought we were crazy. My mom, dad and I are....warm blooded people? Ones who get cold when it's warm out? We had a full beach day, and watch the planes fly straight over head, played with boomer and swam in some cold but beautiful water. Another day we went to Senor Frogs and I got to see the laughing smiles on their face when my parents realized what kind of place this was....CRAZY. The tire tubes on the ceiling with peoples butts in them, all the drunk old ladies with the "sexual" signs pointing to them, all the spring breakers dancing like fools on stage, the loud music and yummy fruity drink. YES! My mom had a drink! You have to at Senor Frogs, so she did and after Darin's recommendation on what to try, she said she liked it!! They got to see our Pawn Shop and meet all of the employees and I posted a picture of them with John, our security guard. My mom got a necklace from the famous John Bull, but I forgot to take a picture of her with the little teal bag. We went to see Atlantis, or what you can still see of it before you have to show your room key. I used to go everywhere in Atlantis and now they check at every door if you supposed to be there. They got to see the marina, some sweet yachts, and the casino though. The 5 days they were here were great. I'm so glad they came although they probably won't miss my driving or I mean other peoples driving here, since it's all crazy driving here. My mom prob had white knuckl

e syndrome while riding around.....I even heard a GASP every now and then.

Thanks parents for bringing me flatware, cool cups, a vacuum cleaner, sheets, towels and much more!! You're awesome and you rock and I love you with everything i've got in me!! You're seriously thee best parents! xoxo

tHe NeW Pad!!

The new HUMBLE abode!!!!
So we moved into our new "island pad" 2 weeks ago, and i've finally gotten around to posting pictures of it. We absolutely love it!! It's safe, and cute, and all ours. I'm enjoying cooking dinner now in our own nice kitchen, opening the windows for the breeze, laying on the couch to watch tv (haven't done that since i've lived in Nassau), I get to wear my pj's around the house, have our own bathroom WITH an amazing shower, Boomer has his own front patio he likes to watch the kids come home and looks forward to the gate opening and the cars driving by. It's been nice just Darin and I, we really needed it. I'm excited to stay home a little more because I like my house and I feel at "home" here. The old place we just couldn't settle down in to a "home" lifestyle.

I'm getting ready for my parents who are coming in 2
days!! I don't know what we'll do for 5 whole days but i'm sure it will be easy and relaxing. I'm looking forward to spending time with just them. When we go home we have to rush from house to house, parents to parents, friend to friend, go out this night, go out that night, it's a never ending cycle of being busy at home and we don't feel like we actually get to spend that quality time. So I can't wait for it to be just my parents and nowhere else to run to and see or hang out with.

After my parents visit, 2 weeks later I get to see my sister, my best friend, my other sister and Kitty! That weekend, Darin goes to Miami for John B's bachelor party, so i'm glad to have those 4 girls here with me. When Darin comes back on that Sunday, Alan and Jenny are flying in too, so then we'll have friends that next week! On that Thursday the 17th, we fly to Orlando for the weekend to enjoy one of Darin's best friends weddings (John's). We can't wait to visit home and see all of our friends in one night!! :)
We also are staying at the hotel for 3 days so it's like a little mini vacation for Darin and I. Such an exciting February and March. This year is starting off to be a fantastic one!!

Peek at the pictures of our "island pad". Hope you like it!

BuZZy BeE

This will probably be short for the amount of time it's been since I last posted....oops, my bad!

In these last almost 2 weeks i've been house hunting for some of the employees that travel around from shop to shop. It's been WAY more difficult than I thought, but I just kept thinking I didn't have long until Darin and I moved into our new place. So here I am, no place found for the others and i'm feeling like i'm out of options. Every new realtor I talk to send me pictures and links to places i've already seen. Trying not to stress over that, I got good news today!! We could move into our place 1 day early!!!! So I worked hard and brought 3 car loads over to the new place. Every time I got into the car I thought "how the heck did I accumulate all this stuff"!? The new place is getting new cabinets, counter tops and a sink starting next week, it's ok now but i'm excited for the new stuff to get put in!! I'll take pictures tomorrow so my next post you'll get to see our new Bahamas pad!!

For Valentines day we didn't really have plans. I tried to look at some of the resorts for a weekend stay for Darin and I since we have had roomates for the last 5 months. Everything was a minimum of 4 nights though. So I decided i'll make dinner or something simple at the house, get a movie, have some wine, something like that. Darin told me today he tried to get a place over by Atlantis called the Cove, it's a condo complex of Atlantis. The guy who had it recently sold it so we couldn't do that either. Super sweet surprise if it worked out, that place is SOOO cool!! An opportunity came up when one of our friends asked us if we wanted to go to Treasure Cay next weekend. Darin has a friend who has a house over there, so we asked and get to stay at the house for 4 days!!!! Go out in the boat, cruise over to Nippers (a fun bar on the beach), eat with friends, and have probably the best Valentine's weekend getaway ever! I can't wait, i'm so excited! Then the next weekend my parents come!! The month gets better and better!

I want to tell my dad, thank you for emailing me everyday from work. I miss you so much, and getting your corny emails makes my day! Love you! xoxo
